Castle „Oberkapfenberg“
- In 1173 the castle "Chaffenberch" was mentioned for the first time
- In the end of the 13th century castle „Oberkapfenberg“ was established by Lord Stubenberg. It was the living and administration location of Lord Stubenberg and besides the location of provincial court for the most parts of valley „Mürztal“
- In 1550 extension to a fortification in renaissance style
- In 1739 the lords left the castle and moved into the new palace „Wieden“ that was located at the shore of the river „Mürz“ à Oberkapfenberg was abandoned and laqpsed into a ruin
- In 1955 Lord Stubenberg started to rebuild the castle into a castle hotel. The ruins of the old castle were included into the new construction
- Since 1985 castle „Oberkapfenberg“ was abandoned again
- In 1992 the municipality of Kapfenberg bought the castle
- Foundation of the associaton with the initiative castle Oberkarpfenberg, that advanced the restauration oft he castle, since 1994 it is a famous destination for tourists again
